El hongo de las uñas o onychomycosis es una condición común. Una mitad de todos los diabéticos y pacientes con psoriasis.  La causa es por los dermatofitos, los albicans de la Candida o los moldes nondermatophytic. 


El aspectos de las uñas resulta amarillo o marrón, gruesas y con mal olor.  Los pacientes sufren de avergonzadas ansiedad en situaciones sociales y problemas referente a otras personas.



Si se dejan no tratas, los síntomas físicos pueden empeorar y llevar a la inflamación del área y del dolor. Esto suceso solamente en casos graves y no es señalada por la mayoría de la gente que sufra de la condición.

Segway and Katy Perry

   





The Segway, the two-wheeled, motorised self-transport device is becoming increasingly popular across the globe. Stumbling from a moving Segway places pressure on the knee joint while it is being medially or laterally stressed. This is the mechanism associated with tibial plateau fractures; complex fractures often associated with other soft tissue injuries. 


This is the case of a young, otherwise healthy woman, who tripped from a moving Segway and sustained a lateral depressed tibial plateau fracture. The fracture healed well and she has returned to an almost normal level of function with intensive physiotherapy.

Uñas enterradas


Uñas enterradas


Una uña encarnada es una condición comun y dolorosa del dedo del pie. Se produce cuando una esquina de la uña se clava en la piel. La zona inflamada puede comenzar a crecer tejido infamatorio o drenar el líquido amarillento.

Si no se trata , una uña encarnada puede progresar a una infección o incluso un absceso en la que el hueso se infecta.  Si una uña encarnada se ha convertido en una infección (drenaje, fiebre, piel más clara rodeado de piel roja, o empeoramiento de dolor e hinchazón), acudir al médico.
Incluso si la uña encarnada solamente se inflama sin infección, consulte a un médico si también se producen las siguientes condiciones:
  • Si tiene diabetes, mala circulación, el SIDA, están en quimioterapia, o  riesgo de infección
  • Si han pasado más de cinco años desde la última vacuna de refuerzo contra el tétanos
  • Si no hay mejoría después de tres días de cuidados en el hogar

La mayoría de las uñas encarnadas pueden ser manejados en el consultorio del médico.

Really messed up ankle

An Ankle Fracture is a break in a ankle bones. Fractures in the ankle can range from simple to very serious  (avulsion injuries, a pieces of bone pulled off, or severe shattering tibia, fibula, or both).

Ankle fractures are caused by a bad ankle rolling, worse than of an ankle sprain. 

People feel pain on the ankle, swelling, they can get a blisters, or bruising.  Some other feel a bone protruding through their skin. 

If you are having one of this right now get it check by someone that knows about ankles, or the ER.  Get also a x-rays 

You would have to Rest, put some Ice: Compress and Elevate it. You'll have to even get a cast or one of those walking boots.  The doctor will give you some pills. 

If the ankle is out of wack you'll have to get surgery, put it back in place or calm that pain.

Dr. Rolando M Melendez DPM is resident of Queens, born and raised in Puerto Rico. He completed undergraduate studies at The University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez . He earned his medical degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.
